Technical aspects of artificial grass

We are still ahead: Slipperiness tests

Your safety is our biggest concern

We always try to be one step ahead of the competition to continue improving our products, since the safety of all of them is very important for us. That’s why our turf is free of heavy metals and are completely safe for users.

We have decided to go one step further by performing the Slipperiness tests, to see how our turf reacts to the risk of falls due to slipping. We tell you everything you need to know about this topic.

The standards on slipperiness of soils

The term Slipperiness was introduced in 2006 in the Technical Building Code (CTE), within the Basic Document of Safety of use and accessibility (Documento Básico de Seguridad de utilización y accesibilidad, DB-SUA).

The slipperiness is part of the basic requirement SUA-1: Security against the risk of falls that states that “The risk of users suffering falls will be limited, for which the floors will be adequate to favor that people do not slip, trip or hamper mobility…”

In order to limit the risk of slipping, floors are classified according to their Slip Resistance value: Rd. This value is determined by the standardized test, where the result will represent the most unfavorable conditions.

The classification would be as follows:

In order to apply this classification, the following table indicates what class soils should have, as a minimum, depending on their location:

This rule applies to the floors of buildings or areas of Public Residence, Sanitary, Teaching, Commercial, Administrative and Public Concurrence, excluding the zones of zero occupation defined in Annex SI A of DB SI.

The solution from Albergrass

Seguimos por delante: Pruebas de resbaladicidad

At Albergrass we develop our products according to European quality standards, as well as current regulations, in a constant effort to offer our customers the best artificial turf on the market.

Over the years, we have been increasing the performance of our products to adapt them to the area in which they will be used, always keeping in mind the safety element.

Considering the horrifying statistical data that demonstrate the important impact that slipperiness has on injuries treated in hospitals, we decided to perform the slipperiness tests on our turf.

Always with the objective of being able to offer a value of resistance to concrete slipperiness, especially aimed at professionals who need this data in their projects.

The results of all our tested turfs have been Class 3, both in dry and wet conditions. Which means highest degree of protection against slipperiness

Conclusions

The consequences of falling have a high social and economic impact, so they are more important than you might think.

Albergrass is aware of this, so safety is one of the main objectives of any product that we release to the market. Therefore, we constantly work on the creation of products that adapt to the established norms.

We are the first artificial grass company that submits its turf to the Slip Resistance tests, as well as being subjected to other tests that prove our excellent characteristics.

Although the slipperiness tests have given us the safest classification, from Albergrass we always ask for maximum precaution, since this does not mean that they are non-slip surfaces, but that their resistance to slips is greater than other surfaces.

Quality, safety and design, are the standards that make the turf from Albergrass the perfect choice for any type of project.
